"How do I know it is the Holy Spirit speaking to me? “Who is He?”…
These were some of the questions that were posed by one of my fren.
I was able to answer partly but there were still some areas which I was still uncertain of.
I search through my bookshelves and amazingly I happen to find a book that was all about the Holy Spirit. It’s been there all along but little did I know about it.
I really thank her for asking. Otherwise I would not have ask myself this questions and learn so much from it. It’s titled, “Good Morning Holy Spirit” by Benny Hinn.
I’ve typed it out in Q&A format to make it easier for you to understand and for your reading to be less laborious=) These are also some common questions that New Believers might ask you. I believe too that it’ll be a good tool that you could use to minister to your friends who are new to this. Just as Pastor Prince is encouraging us to go into the move of the Spirit by praying in tongues, lets soak deep into a greater understanding of the Spirit. It’s going to be so long I doubt you would read it in one goal. Hee~ like what I said it’s a note for you to keep. I believe it was the Holy Spirit that has kept me awake reading this=) and given me the desire to spent a great deal of time finishing this book in a day to compile it in a short summary for you guys. The verse that excite me most as I was reading this was,
Power and authority the apostles receive began to touch lives at every turn-followed by signs and wonders(Acts5:12)
Act 5:14 and more believing ones were added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women;
Act 9:31 Then, indeed, the churches had rest throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria, and having been built up. And having gone on in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were increased.
The apostles having been filled with Spirit cause an increase in the number of believers.
Do you see it God’s beloved?=)The numbers were added to the church when they were filled!

Who is the Holy Spirit(HS)?
He is the third person of the Trinity. He is the spirit of the Father, the Spirit of the son, the power of GodHead. The work together to meet your need. An understanding of it is essential.
What is His job?
To bring into commandment of the Father and the performance of the son. For example, it si God the son who performs the command of the Father “Let there be light” God the son came to perform it, then God the HS brought it to light.
If I ask you to turn on the light” three forces involve. I gave the command. Second you walk to switch on the light. But finally, who brings the light? It is not me, and it’s not you. It is the power-the electricity-that produces light.
What is the direct role of the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit
The Father is the operator
Lord Jesus is the administrator
Holy Spirit is the manifestor
If you need life, to whom do you turn to?(*)
You turn to the Father because He is the giver of every good and perfect gift. You say, “I though we look to Jesus.” No. The source is the Father. But the giver of that source is Christ .And the power of the source is the Holy Spirit.
So when you need life, here is what happens. You look up to God the Father and say, “Father, give me life!” Or healing or deliverance. You see, God is the source of it. Jesus said, “Ask the Father in My name.” Even though you are approaching God through His Son, it is still the Father you are asking the gift. And your request goes through the Son to the Father.
How is that gift returned? Let’s say your request is healing. God the Father— remember now that God is three persons—looks at God and Son and says, “Would you please heal him?”
Christ delivers the healing. Why? Because that is the role of the administrator. The very word administrate means to minister or to serve. So the Father releases the healing to the Son, and the Son serves it to you.
Can you picture yourself reaching out to receive your healing and finding that somehow it seems just out of reach? You stretch your arms as far as you can, but the gift seems beyond your grasp. So close and yet so far away. What has happen? What is missing?
That’s where the work of the HS enters the picture. He presents Himself to manifest the healing that was provided by God and served by His Son. It is the Spirit who completes the process of your healing.
(*)When the Father gives you something, it comes of the Father. And when the Son gives you something, it is usually described as coming through Jesus. But when the Holy Spirit provides, it is given in Him. Of, through, in—just three little words, but they are mighty and powerful.
As you read God’s Word, the pattern is striking.
When we see the Father spoken of, it is in terms of “the love of God, “the power of God”, the grace of God” That’s how it’s presented over and over again.
But how is Christ portrayed?
“give praise through the Son”, “receive through the Son”
When it comes to the HS, the terminology changes.
Walk in the Spirit, live in the Spirit…(Gal 5:16, 25)
How does the Holy Spirit help
As a guide, leading you into the truth by revealing the Scriptures to you
Is He a person
Yes. What makes a person? Is it the physical body. No. The person is what comes out of the body. Emotions. Will. Intellect. Feeling. It is the person inside that is important. He is not a floating vapor. He has a personality.
Why is He here? What am I suppose to do with Him.
Fellowship with you
“The grace of the lord Jesus Christ and the love of God, and the communion of the HS be with you all(2Cor13:14)
How do you fellowship with Jesus
The HS helps you in your prayer to the Father and Son(Romans8:26-27)
He is gentle and powerful, Like a child who wants to stay close to whose who love Him.
How is the HS a teacher of the Bible to us
1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
How does the power of the HS operate
He was the force behing the wind that divided the red sea, he was the power in Joshua’s life, he was the mighty power that smash the walls of Jericho
Is the Holy Spirit on Jesus
Luk 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised”
He would not preach, lay hands if He had not.
How do I cultivate His presence
You talk to Him. “How would you feel if you were sitting here ignoring me?When we meet, I expect you to talk with me” The HS is a person.
By seeking His presence you will discover the secret of the great men and women of God…David said, “Do not cast me away from your Presence”
How do I began
Start by saying, “Holy Spirit help me to pray now”
Rom 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
What happens when the HS comes into your live
He baptize us with a love for people, to those you don’t like
Rom 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
The Word of God comes alive
Gives you power and boldness in your prayer
Transform your Christian life
How are you led by the Spirit
The more you fellowship with Him, the deeper your relationship is. You become familiar with His voice. You recognize it. You respond to it.
Who does the HS hears from
The Father.
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.
The Holy Spirit is the one who communicate heaven into your heart
What do you feel when you stand in the presence of the Father
The warmth. You feel the Holy Spirit.
God is like the sun in the sky. Jesus is the light, and the Holy Spirit is the heat.
John 14:9 He who has seen Me has seen the Father.
2Co 3:18 But we all, with our face having been unveiled, having beheld the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, are being changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Lord Spirit.
How do you know that you are saved
Did you hear a voice from Heaven?Did Jesus appear in a physical body. But by His spirit.
“you know that you know” that’s the strength of the HS has given to me.
Who do you thinks protects you from the attacks of the evil one?
It is the Holy Spirit.
When the enemy comes in like a flood, /The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him(Isa59:19)
When you read that verse you come to a conclusion that the enemy comes in like a flood. But I’ve got news for you; the flood is the Holy Ghost, not the devil. You see, in the Hebrew there are no commas. But the King James translator put a coma after the word flood, and made the enemy more powerful than he actually is. The actual Hebrew says that the enemy comes in “like a flood the spirit comes against him”
I love what my International Children Bible says. It gives the exact meaning to it. Simple but yet powerful=)

How does the Holy Spirit speak in us
He witnesses to your very conscience
Rom 9:1 I tell the truth in Christ, I do not lie, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit,
At the time when your “inner man” is troubled, don’t move.
It’s the same as your salvation “you know that you know”
Rom 8:16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God.
What does communion with HS means
Presence, fellowship, sharing together, participate with, intimacy, friendship, comradeship
Where does He lives
In us.
1Co 3:16 Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
3 Characteristic of the HS
Omnipresent-all present , Psalms 139:7-10
-Satan cannot be at all places at the same time, because angels cannot be and the devil was an archangel
Omnipotent-all powerful, Luke 1:35
Omniscient (1Cor 2:9-11)
-The HS searches the mind of God
-Satan can’t. If he can, he would be an all knowing Spirit.
Who is the Holy Spirit
He is a person. Only a person can be resisted.
Act 7:51 O stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so you do.
He is not a floating wind, oil or even doves. These are just symbols of the HS.
You can’t resist wind or oil, or even dove that will just fly away, but you can resist a person.
What is outward signs of a Spirit filled life
It’s evident in the persons action and speech.
Just as when you see a drunkard man, you know that he is drunk. But he is controlled by a wrong power.
A spirit filled man will be(Eph 5:19-21)
You’ll be changed in speech
Sing new songs
Giving thanks
Servant heart, submitting to one another-heart that will yearn to love people
“Your words are uplifting, there’s harmony in your heart, you give thanks to the Lord, and you truly and humbly serve people.
A spirit filled person is not self-centered and say, “Who do you think you are, telling me what to do”
It’s by the Spirit that you are able to say thank you
How do you know He is real
You’ve never seen the wind, but you have certainly seen the results of the wind :
Tree bent, the flag waves, ship moves
You don’t have to see the Spirit to know that He is alive
You can feel the evidence in the power He gives you. Once He feels you seeking confirmation is futile.
A man once asked me, “Tell me, am I filled with the Spirit?”
“If you don’t know, then you’re not”
You don’t have to ask when you see the result
Is it a one time or continuous filling
It’s unlike a bottle or vessel being filled, but a continuous filling like a sail boat.
When does the HS comes into you
The moment you accept and confess Him as your Lord and Saviour.
How do I receive from Him
Surrender. It’s liken to a marriage. It’s an unselfish act of loving surrender.
Total surrender brings total communion. It produces love and understanding.l
Like a sail, you can’t remain strained and tight. You must be flexible to yield.
The moment you surrender to the Lord, He fill you with His Spirit.
Total surrender brings total infilling and total submission brings total fellowship.
How do you surrender
It will not happen if you “try to”.
It’s like learning how to swim.. If you try to swim, you’ll begin to sink, even drown.
When you met your mate for life, you didn’t “try to” fall in love. You don’t have to work at it because love surrenders.
Be still in His presence. You have experience times when you dint have to utter a word to assure someone of your love.
What happens when we ignore the HS
What happens to a marriage when one partner ignore the other?
Can it be mended.
All it takes is a fresh surrender and renewing of the vow, “to love, honor and cherish”
Cultivate His Presence.
What happens to your problem when you accept Him. Does it disappear.
The moment the Spirit comes into my life I no longer had to battle with my adversaries. They were still there, but the wrestling and the worry seem to vanish.
Eze 36:26 And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. And I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.
Eze 36:27 And I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you shall keep My judgments and do them.
The Day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came on 120believers. Why 120?
Do you recall when Solomon finished his temple he had, “one hundred and twenty priests sounding trumpets”(2Chro 5:12)
Scriptures record that “the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God(v13-14)
It happened again in the Upper Room. 120 came together and the Spirit of God filled the temple. Why 120? It is the number of the closing of the flesh and the opening of the age of the Spirit,. In Genesis, where for 120years, Noah was building the ark, the age of the flesh ended. God said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years”(Gen6:3)
When you live following the Spirit, you live to 120?;)
On Pentecost, it was a mark of the beginning of the age of the Spirit.
What does the HS does to you
It transform timid Peter and brought out the ‘preacher’ in him as he spoke in boldness. The lame rise and walk when he spoke(Acts 3:16)
1Th 1:5 “For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit…”
What are the signs that follow a spirit filled man

When you are in close communion with the HS
Your words and action conform to His words and actions
What is the pre-eminence to the power of the HS
The Word of God first.
Act 10:44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those hearing the Word.
The gospel is the foundation for everything God the HS was sent to do
Can the HS phrophesy
Act 11:28 And one of them named Agabus stood up and signified by the Spirit that there should be great famine over the world
He revealed a coming draught and this allowed them to be prepared when the famine actually came.
Is the Holy Spirit important
Jesus was born of the Spirit, anointed by the Spirit, cast out devils by the Spirit, receives his fullness by the Spirit, and performed miracles by the Spirit.
Heb 9:14
Why is it that the early church had such power to command demons to depart, heal the sick and we have little of it
It is because we have ignored the most powerful person in the universe
Zec 4:6 “…This is the Word of Jehovah to Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says Jehovah of Hosts.
How can the yoke of bondage be broken
“And the yoke be destroyed because of the anointing oil” Isaiah 10:27

Anointing stays in us(1 John 2:2-7)
How do you recognize Him?
It’s as simple as that little voice you hear when you are about to fall asleep. The words that reminds you. “you haven’t prayed today”
How do I know the HS is still with me
The Satan will tell you “The Holy Spirit had left you, He’ll never come back”
The Scripture tells us that the HS abides with every believer as counselor and source of peace forever.
Are you aware of His presence. Did you hear him reminding you to pray and read the Word. He hasn’t left you. He’s there.
Can a Spirit filled person be filled with demons.
Absolutely not.
But someone living in unforgiveness and away from the Lord can be influence by the demons. They can be oppressed by the power of darkness but not possessed.
Jesus says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” It is more important to know what He will do for us than what Satan will do against us.
What will happen when you walk according to the Spirit, when you walk in no condemnation(Romans 8:1-14)
1) Power over sin (v1,2)
2) Fulfill the law (v3,4)
3) Mind of Christ(v5-8)
4) He will give you righteousness(v9-10)
5) Give life to your body(v11)
6) Death to self(v12-14)
7) Testify to your salvation, cry out “Abba, Father”
Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
What is His role
He’ll never promote Himself but Jesus. He’ll never create the place of greatness just for Himself, He’ll give the honor to the Lord.
Why was He given to us.
As a guarantee of our eternal life(Eph 1:13-14)
How can I please God
You cant obey God by saying, “I’m going to quit this habit”
You depend on your flesh and fall continually.
“Don’t try! Young man it’s not your ability. It’s His ability in you”
By yielding to Him.
What is the purpose of the manifestation of the Spirit
One purpose : to bring people to Christ. To demonstrate that God is alive
