"But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption."
I've quoted this verse several times claiming Christ my wisdom, my righteousness and redemption...not realising much on Sanctification even when I mention it. I dunno about you, but I came home pondering this verse that Pastor gave:
John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth, thy Word is truth 18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
To me that's a really powerful statement. We are made holy through the holiness of Christ simply by following the truth. Jesus says He is the way, the truth and the life! How do you follow, you walk in it.
Abraham was called to leave his own country (separation) and to follow God wherever He might lead. Pastor Joshua also refer sanctification to the state or process of being set apart or made holy.
I love a verse which I read recently from Gen 17:1, When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, I am the Almighty God; walk and live habitually before me and be perfect.
How did God ask Abram to live a holy life, God told him to walk before Him...
How do you walk in the will of God? Is when you allow Jesus to sanctify you with His Words of love. Then you are walking in His holiness, His will (1 Thes 4:3 For this is the will of God, [even] your sanctification..., Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,)
Haha~this message is really from the Lord. My initial plan was to type out on what sanctification means from a devotion book I happen to stumble upon in my house that belongs to my landlord. I just knew that the word sanctify and the verse Gen 17:1 has been boiling in me but I didnt know how to relate it only until I started typing it down here=)God speaks "in" time. If you're wondering how you're going to deliver a speech, He will give you the right words in that moment, amen?
Grace IS with us!=D
